Through Adversity to the Stars

(Per Ardua Ad Astra)

ALL ABOUT US

Wing 404 is a great place to go for an afternoon or evening of relaxation with your friends and family. There is a friendly atmosphere and our location, in the northwest corner of Waterloo - just off Weber Street, is easy to find and has plenty of free parking. We offer a quiet lounge with bar facilities, an intimate card/TV room, shuffleboard, an outdoor patio garden, a separate billiards room and a sauna. Next door is a City of Waterloo Adult Recreation Centre. Our regular newsletter of events and happenings is included in your membership. You will have an opportunity to make new friends, attend social events, talk to Air Force veterans of the Second World War or recently retired Air Force personnel, and meet other members with like interests. Guests are welcome.

HISTORY

Wing 404 is a private Canadian service club that works in cooperation with other veterans groups. We are a member of the Air Force Association of Canada. Our Kitchener-Waterloo Wing was established in 1948 and the current premises were built in 1968. Various fund raising events are held throughout the year to provide for club needs, Air Cadets and to support the needs of our community.

MEMBERSHIP

We have 3 types of members: regular members (such as veterans, those who have served in the Air Force or civil aviation, or past members of Air Cadets), associate members and social members. Please note that to apply for membership, it is not necessary for a member of your family to have served in the Air Force.

How Do I Become A Member?

New members are always welcome. If you are interested in becoming a member, or if you are wondering about our very affordable membership dues, please feel free to call the Wing at 519-884-1272 or e-mail This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it and we will talk to you about the best option for you.

BENEFITS

A Wing means different things to each of our members. Some come to reminisce and exchange stories over a ‘pint'; others like to have a game of cards at our regular progressive euchre on Tuesday nights; still others prefer to drop in after work to "shoot the breeze" and relax with friends, have a game of darts or shuffleboard.

  Other Benefits include:

* General meetings are held on the first Thursday of the month (except July and August). All members and spouses are welcome to attend a full course dinner for a reasonable cost.

* Mini-groups within the club: for example - the Ladies Auxiliary, the sauna group, the entertainment group, card club and so on.

* Rentals - Special rates for members.

* Attend social events such as Christmas, Saturday Night Dinners, conferences, Valentine's, BBQ's, golfing tournaments and more.

* Volunteer opportunities: Poppy Fund, support for local charitable groups as well as helping at special events or serving on the Wing executive

MORE ABOUT US

People: Our club is managed by an elected executive and sub-committees. We have a basic Code of Conduct which includes some of the following: register your guests in a ‘sign-in' book, honour Wing traditions such as not wearing headgear in the wing in respect for fallen comrades, appropriate conduct and being responsible for your guest's behaviour.

The Air Force Association of Canada: The Association is an advocacy group for Canada's Air Force. Regular and associate Members receive an annual subscription to the AirForce magazine. We proudly perpetuate the glorious traditions of the Royal Canadian Air Force and provide support for thousands of Air Cadets across Canada. We support a strong national aerospace industry and high standards for civil aviation. We work with Veterans Affairs of Canada and the RCAF Benevolent Fund on behalf of Air Force veterans.
